Theyre not the cheapest but weve stuck with Pampers since our child was born. They seem pretty comfortable, are easy to change, and dont leak. Delivery from Amazon is free and fast for Prime members.

Not sure why there are several different types of size 5 pampers, I guess different kids grow at different rates, and some walk sooner than others, but it is confusing. My only real complaint, however, is that some recent Pampers purchases have had weak tape to waistband connections, so that when the band is pulled around the waist to tape it in the front, the tape part comes off with an unceremonious thwack. This is very intermittent however, and may have something to do w/ my speed diapering.

I got a lot of these Crane humidifiers. We have a lot of minerals in our water, so I got these filters. Some of the humidifiers made too much noise to use in a bedroom. They are extremely cute, though, and inexpensive.

I got white dust everywhere even with the filters, even after also using water run through another charcoal filter. If you are serious about these humidifiers, you need to use distilled water. Then you wont need these filters.

About the white dust, I mean literally everywhere, inside the DVD player for instance. I have quit using all of the Crane humidifiers and put them away. I was really sad about this, because they are so cute. They did raise the humidity about 10%. We live in the desert, it is very dry in the winter.

I have the penguin humidifier, which works great, but this filter does not fit quite right. It pushes the penguin up off of the base a small amount which makes the steam come out of the bottom as well as the penguins mouth. It also makes the unit a bit noiser. Neither of these things really bother me and I would/will buy the filter again when needed.

It smelled like weird plastic for a whole day, but now its stopped. It seems like it just had to run water through it I think its decreased the strange smell coming from the humidifier. If you follow the instructions, I dont think there would be much of a problem.

The water quality where I live is not so good, with out this I had to change the filter after 3 days! it truly does work for 30 days even with hard water that is full of minerals. Great product dont use a cool mist with out one!

I went through a LOT of expensive filters before I found these little gems. I was doubtful at first if they would help, but after I put them in all three of my humidifiers, every single one now goes much longer without me having to replace the filter. Definitely worth the cost.

I just cant get behind this. Its a great idea but just too hard to use. No thought in the construction "yeah, well make a plastic box to fill with water". Lips on the edges to at least HELP prevent spills would be nice.

Imagine yourself filling this thing with water (12-14lbs) up to the very EDGE, and then having to lift it up, over, and into your freezer. I would like to hear from anyone who hasnt layered the bottom of their freezer with ice after using this.

There is no guide or spout at the end of the path and the drink ends up going all over the place. It defintiely never makes it into a shot glass and if you drink it right from the end of the luge, you are going to get it all down your chin and possibly your clothes. Also, the path is too small to actually chill any liquid. It is not worth the effort or mess.

I read the review by someone else that warned it was a one-time use product, so I was really careful when I dumped the ice block out of the mold. I ran hot water over the top to loosen it up a bit. It came out reasonably easy and it was fun at the party. However, I just went to fill it up again and there is a hole in the mold now so its basically useless.

If you dont mind spending the $20 for a one time use thing, its pretty good. But if you want to use it more than that, you will be very lucky to be able to do so.

Wow what a fun and satisfying debut album by these two great acts! This is real genuine classic rock music with a great selection of song styles - rock, blues, ballads, pop, new wave, even some thats a little country-tinged. Brian May and Roger Taylor bring their trademark Queen sound to the proceedings with distinctive guitar work and percussion, and Paul Rodgers has one of the greatest voices ever. They havent lost their touch! This album beats anything in the Bad Company catalogue and is as good or better than any album Queen released in the 1980s. A true meeting of equals, the bands histories blend together to make anew and very distinctive sound of its own. Open your ears, clear out your preconceptions, and get ready to enjoy some real music by real musicians!

Excellent Debut Album from Queen Paul Rodgers

As a longtime Queen fan (of the WHOLE band, not just Freddie) and an admirer of the talents of Paul Rodgers in whatever form, I was so anxious to hear this album that I bought it as an import. After a couple of listens I wrote up my impression of the individual songs, of the album as a whole, and of the band as they release their first studio collaboration. Here are my thoughts -

Cosmos Rockin - a great rockin opener, very classic stuff, great hand-clappin, head-bobbin ,foot-tappin, singin along fun. I really enjoyed this one. Paul sounds great, the guitar really rips, Roger is really delivering. The call-and-return chorus is fun. Fun lyrics, obviously meant to be fun and with tongue firmly in cheek. I had a big smile on my face the whole track.

Time to Shine - a great opening vocal from Paul, very nice hearing real piano on a Queen-ish track again, as it kind of disappeared in the 80s, usually replaced by synths. I like the urgency and the driving quality of this song, Roger is really great here. Lyrically, I like the spin of optimistic challenge they put on the phrase "its time to shine". I like the karma of the entire record actually. I admire them for putting something positive like this out into the ether. With a few lyrical changes this could almost be a hymn. Quite spiritual, or as much as one could expect from a rock song and without straying into U2 territory.

Still Burnin - theres a nice groove on this track, some tasty bits of classic May guitar. I love how unpretentious the album is - "rock n roll never dies" is so down-to-brass-tacks. Has a nice solo. These guys clearly have had it in their bellies to make an unapologetic back-to-basics rock record and I like that they didnt try to dress it up too much. Theres a rawness to it. The "We Will Rock You" sample is kind of fun. I wasnt expecting that. It works.

Small - I was really taken with how this affected me. I love simple songs that express a simple feeling. The chorus is nice, very direct, communicating something very universal. Rodgers is such an unpretentious vocalist. I really like the solo, lots of emotion in there. This is one of my favorite tracks on the album. Very nice toward the end when the chorus gets big. That was a "Queen moment".

Warboys - I think this is magnificent. Id heard Rodgers live solo version of this, and this version just takes it to a whole other level. The acoustic guitar, the drumming and the vocals are so crisp. This was this first "I got chills" moment on the record. That "warboys" chorus with the Queen-esque vocals stacks really lays it out. And Roger is killing it with that percussion. The drums and guitar are so tight. Excellent.

We Believe - Im really of two minds on this one. It is very Pollyanna-ish but its also very sincere, which I appreciate. And its pretty. There are some nice moments. I like how it builds, and I like the "I believe", "you believe" back and forth in the verses. But lyrically its trying to say too much and with too many words. I think talking about leaders and so forth probably makes it a little too on-the-nose to really resonate enough. It was better when it was about "me" and "you". And no song should ever include a phrase as clumsy as "deed of obligation". But I really cant take much issue with the "peace, reconciliation and forgiveness" spirit behind it. Theres probably a better song in there somewhere but it needed a rewrite to tighten it up. Pauls vocal almost saves it. Hes really gives it his best but if theres a track Im tempted to skip on the album, this is the one.

Call Me - I was into this. Its kind of a refreshing change after some of the musically heavy and lyrically heavy stuff that it follows. Its simple, fun, easy to sing along to. Reminds me of "Let Your Heart Rule Your Head" from Brians solo album and a bit of "Who Needs You" from "News of the World". The buzzy guitar is fun and I love the solo. I really think this could have been a track on "A Day at the Races". One of the reasons I have loved Queen for almost 20 years now is the variety, and this is a nice left curve track.

Voodoo - This track has a very Santana-ish quality, which must have been fun for them to work on since I dont think Queen-proper ever did a track like this, this well. This is obviously what something like "My Baby Does Me" from "The Miracle" was aiming for and didnt come close to. Totally Pauls territory and he just glides effortlessly through this. Brians guitar is nicely understated and plays well against the vocal. The whole track is smooth as silk and is just about perfect for what it is. I dont think they could improve a note on this one.

Some Things That Glitter - Lovely opening with the piano, guitar, and cymbals. I love the symbolism of the butterfly. Very groovy in a laid back, 70s kind of way. Pauls vocal, again, is effortless and lovely. Nice to hear Brian doing those very Queen-esque backing vocals. "My butterfly grew golden wings" and then that lovely bit of trademark May guitar is a great little moment. A nice restrained solo. I could hear Freddie singing this, circa 1976. Probably my favorite track on the album.

C-lebrity - being the single, I have heard this a lot by now and its grown on me quite a bit. I love the lyrics, all trademark Roger Taylor stuff - the humor and the sarcasm. Again, a recurring vibe of this whole record for me is "fun" and this to my ears is a fun track. I like that its a bit rockier and poppier than some of the other stuff, and thus taking Rodgers out of his comfort zone a bit. A nice to-the-point guitar solo. "I want to be a star in a Broadway musical - theyre gonna love me - I cant sing or dance at all", I love that bit. Roger is, again, really killing it on the percussion. And it gets fun and a little sing-songy at the end with that weedly-weedly guitar. Another song I could hear Freddie doing well, say, around 1984 or thereabouts. And I imagine the video would have been hilarious.

Through the Night - Again, the guitar/drums/piano mix here is something I really missed about post-70s Queen. I like the melody here, Pauls very emotive vocal really sells it. I love the little change between the verse and chorus. Very raw emotive solo from Mr. May. "Without your love theres nowhere I can hide", thats a great line. Lovely guitar at the end, another overt "Queen moment".

Say Its Not True - As this song was released as a free download on New Years Eve, this is the one Ive obviously lived with the longest and I really fell in love with this version. Great hearing some lead vocals from Roger and then Brian, then some beautiful harmonising between the two of them before Paul sweeps in toward the middle and just takes it into the stratosphere. His voice really soars and he gives it all the power and emotion its due. I have always had a very emotional reaction to the song and specifically to this version. Its just big and sincere and in your face, and they go way over the top at the end with that huge sweeping guitar, and its really satisfying. Amazing that they were able to take the simple little acoustic song that this track started its life as and turn it into this epic.

Surfs Up ... Schools Out! - I loved this one and specifically because its so different from anything else on the record and anything Ive ever heard Paul sing. Again, taking Paul out of his comfort zone worked very well for me. Great hearing Rogers vocals. This sounds completely like his track to me. I like the way the verses and the chorus contrast so much and that theres some different dynamics in the song. I love tempo changes in songs and songs that kind of go off in two or three different directions. I like the bridge with the twinkling synths in the middle, and then its some crunchy guitar and driving drums to take it home. Its a bit of a curveball and it just works for me. If anything I wish they had mixed it up just a tad more on the whole album.

Small reprise - a pretty way to end the record. I find it perfectly hummable.

So I liked it quite a bit. Its a 4 of 5 or 8 of 10 record for me. I wasnt blown away but, in fairness, I also wasnt blown away by "Jazz", "The Game", "Hot Space", "The Works", "A Kind of Magic" or "The Miracle" - all good albums to varying degrees, but none were mindblowing. This album is three flavors I like mixing it up very well and doing what they do. A nice variety of songs, and if anything, I wish there had been even more. I like that it was a pretty raw, straight forward record without a lot of gloss on it. Its very genuine in that way and I respond to that. And, in the Queen tradition, I like that its not taking itself too seriously, that they gave themselves the freedom to just have fun, make fun music, and just sort of be lads playing music together. On the flip side, I like that theres a lot of genuine, unadorned emotion - some hope, some sadness, some loss, some ambition. Its a rounded record, if you know what I mean. And it has a very organic, "all came out of the same pot" kind of feeling to it, which contrasts rather sharply, to my ears at least, with most of the Queen-proper studio albums starting with "The Game", all of which sound to me like 3 or 4 great singles surrounded by some very pleasant but mostly inconsequential filler, written by 4 seperate songwriters working more or less alone. Conversely, I do wish this album had had a couple of poppier tracks. Queen became as much a pop band as a rock band in the 80s and 90s, and my ears have become somewhat attuned to that.

I absolutely think that this trio is, in every way, a new band. Being the vocalist, Pauls influence is very strong, but having heard a lot of Pauls solo work from the last 15 years, Brian and Rogers influence on Paul is crystal clear. Its a much more defined and shaped album than Pauls solo stuff, a much broader variety of sounds, and of course the elements of the classic Queen sound are easily and frequently identifiable. And I think Paul allowed Brian and Roger to be unburdened from the shackle of having to have a specific "Queen sound" that refers to something that stopped developing organically 17 years ago. I imagine that "sound" is simultaneously something they want to perpetuate since they helped create it and also something that has to feel limiting and confining at times too. "Can we do this? Does this sound Queen enough?" I dont really feel that tension in this record. Im not sitting here saying to myself "ok, this reminded me of Queen album _______ " because this just feels like a very different animal. Too many things have changed and too much time has passed to make that kind of comparison. Not a new chapter in a book so much as a new book. It just feels like a new creative entity, and rather like a second marriage. Both people bring their baggage, good and bad, from their prior marriages, and those elements blend into something thats new and old at the same time.

After listening to "The Cosmos Rocks", I hope they make another album together as Queen Paul Rodgers. Theyve made themselves a very interesting beginning, and I would really like to hear how they develop as a writing unit and as a band.

The Queen is dead long live the Queen.

I like that it tells the history of math and numbers. It tells a lot of cool math tricks that can really help people. It tells a lot about Pi like how to remember the first 8 decimal places. It also tells quick facts about math, like the boy in Japan who took Pi to 40,000 decimal places. It took him 15 hours. I really like the book, and I suggest that other kids read it.

After doing a search for games for gifted kids and reading the reviews about Blokus, we bought this game for our family for Christmas. We have thoroughly enjoyed it. Our 5 & 7 year old kids enjoy it and understand the concept of planning your strategy, although they dont always put it into practice. I enjoyed the game a lot more before my husband got so good at it. :) When the kids get tired of playing, he and I play it using the 2 player game rules (we each play 2 colors) and really enjoy it. This is a great family game for a wide range of ages. I was a little surprised it cost so much when we first started considering it, but its worth it.

This is my daughters favorite game. It has 3 games, but they are games that evolve and advance to harder levels.

For example, the cathing items in the basket game -- whatever it is called, starts with item recognition and uses the arrow keys to get say apples instead of butter or cherries. Eventually it goes to can you get the apples with the 6 so you need to recognize your numbers.

There is a lot of recognizing numbers going on in this game. The same applies for the pie kicking game. This game actually is very matched to skills that are age appropriate for a 3 or 4 year old. For example, in my daughters preschool, they are working on number recognition of 1-5. This is doing 1-9.

I highly recomend the clickstart to anyone, and while a 5 or 6 year old would master this game instantly, it is VERY good for the preschool age child of 3 & 4. It is fun too, my daughter would rather play this than watch TV.

First off...my 3yo absolutely loves the clickstart computer and games. She is self taught and is a whiz at it.

We have all the games and purchased this one last. Out of all of them...this one is the most entertaining and the least educational.

When you open the game you have the choice to play 3 games and one option to listen to music you have "earned" in a game. One of the games has the player collecting fruit in a basket to make a pie. The player has to use the right and left arrow keys to move the character back and forth to catch falling fruit. Another game has a character flying through the air and the player has to use the mouse to run into flying pies. The final game has the player using the mouse to play a matching game. An instrument is shown on the screen and the player has to click on its match at the top of the screen. The instruments names are never mentioned. At the end of this game the characters dance to a tune. When you go back to the main menu, you can go into a pagoda house and play the tune you "earned" over again.

As you can see...based on the other ClickStart games that use numbers and letters...this doesnt use any (at least in level 1). And it is supposed to teach music but it does not. But it has the most entertaining games of all the cartridges.

Do I like it...yes. But it is a huge disappointment when it comes to education.

We purchased this game hoping for educational fun for our 3 year old. Once again we think Leapfrog has missed the mark on the Clickstart games. It takes our child all of a minute to master any and all of the Clickstart games. He has been able to recognized his numbers from 1-10 for sometime now and the games are simply too easy. Leapfrog needs to make some more advanced games for this system and put year rating of 2-4. I would hope that anyone of the age of 5 and entering Kindergarten is way beyond these games.

This book is a must for all teachers who struggle with making kids assimilate difficult concepts such as calculating equivalent fractions, geometry, measurement, probability and statistics, decimals, and mathematical operations ranging from addition all the way through divisions with remainder.

It contains black and white masters to photocopy in order to build your own board games. What I have done so far, is photocopy the games, color them and then have them laminated so that they can last longer. These board games are ideal for small group instruction or learning centers. Most of the games require not only the board and/or the dice, but a worksheet for the kids to color while they advance on the board, making the games even more engaging for the students.

The games are aimed at students between 3rd and 6th grades, and they all contain really attractive illustrations.

If you are looking for something fun to do with your kids meanwhile they are mastering mathematical reasoning, this book is a must for you!

Here is one handheld gaming system that both parents and kids will be able to agree upon. The Leapster Learning Game System takes the brain-building principles that Leapfrog laid out in its earlier electronic learning devices (which have an interactive book format) and applies them to a video-game format. Leapster draws kids in with familiar video game templatesall of which have a secret weapon: a built-in learning component. LeapFrog hopes that kids will become so engaged in the gaming aspects and familiar television and movie characters offered by this toy that they wont even notice that theyre learning and reinforcing valuable reading, math, and language skills.

Aimed at 4- to 10-year-olds, the 6-by-4-inch Leapster is sized for little hands and comfortably shaped with safe, rounded edges. The 2-1/4-inch touch screen is ample for most of the gaming activities although a little cluttered when used for the art and drawing modules. Buttons are suitably placed on either side of the unit for thumb-operated control. The right side features "A" and "B" buttons for selecting settings and answers while the left has a multi-directional gamepad for game play. A pen is also attached for drawing, selecting tools and settings, and dragging and placing objects. The 3-inch backlit display makes games visible in the dark (although parents will prefer that the Leapster is shut off at bedtime) and the animated graphics, while not completely state-of-the-art are well done and suitable for this age range.

The Leapster Learning Game System takes the brain-building principles that Leapfrog laid out in its earlier electronic learning devices (which have an interactive book format) and applies them to a video-game format.

As with the manufacturers LeapPad products, the Leapster does require the purchase of additional cartridges to expand its capabilities. Kids can choose titles with their favorite characters to play educational games with. The star-studded list of celebrity narrators includes TV personalities, such as SpongeBob Squarepants, Thomas the Tank Engine, and Dora the Explorer and movie stars, such as Nemo, Cinderella, Ariel (The Little Mermaid), and Batman. Leapfrogs own cartoon star, Tad, is narrates a few as well. While stocking up on the extra software titles can get expensive, it also gives parents some control and input on which characters theyd like their kids to learn from. And, characters for these titles are appropriately matched to the maturity of the targeted grade level (pre-K through 4th grade).

Starting up or hitting the Home button takes players to the main menu. There is one staple pre-loaded game that children will likely come back to again and again. Rabbit River is based on the Frogger game format, but with an additional learning element. In letters mode, kids guide their bunny to hop floating logs to the other side of the river while jumping on specific letters to identify them or spell out a requested 3- or 4-letter word. In numbers mode, the bunny must land on specific numbers on the logs to skip count by twos or form a correct equation. The other pre-loaded activity is Color Corral, an interactive coloring book designed to boost creative problem-solving skills. This module is like a kids version of Photoshop and offers a variety of scenic templates, colors, tools, and moving icons that kids can combine for an infinite number of possibilities. The included manual gives suggestions on how to reinforce these math, reading, and art concepts in the real world. .

Each game offers multiple skill levels so kids can ease into new territory at the beginner level and challenge themselves with more advanced learning problems as they understand the concept. If kids are stumped at any point during a game, they can hit the Hint button and receive a friendly push in the right direction from an animated tutor, Edison the firefly. Edison also appears automatically if kids answer a question incorrectly several times in a row and coaches the child to reach the correct answer. The Pause button lets kids stop the game for a snack break and pick back up again where they left off.

Designed for portability, the Leapster fits easily in a backpack or tote bag and is ideal for more purposeful edutainment on the go, whether its a quick game on the bus ride to school or hours of playtime during vacation travel. This learning system runs on four AA batteries or on a rechargeable battery pack when combined with the Leapster L-Max Recharging System (sold separately). I ordered this because it said 4-10yrs in the description, even the picture of the package shown on Amazon says 4-10yrs but the box I received says 4-8. So I went to Toys R Us and they had boxes with both age ranges. I am not sure if Leapster changed the age range or if this product has two different age ranges. But I was looking for something that would be appropriate for 8-10 age range. Since I purchased it as a Christmas present I can not rate the toy itself at this time.

We purchased the Leapster for our daughter last Christmas and she likes it (although she says she would rather have a DS). However, last month she was sitting on a step stool (very low to the ground) and the Leapster slipped out of her hands and fell to the tile floor. The leapster has not worked since and I have tried everything. This is a childrens toy and should be able to withstand a fall to the floor without permanent damage. We were very disappointed and could not even blame our daughter. It was just an accident. That having been said, we are shelling out for a new one this Christmas, but be warned and do not drop it.

We own the Leapster and the kids enjoy playing it. There are many good game choice for it for all different age levels. It is fantasic because your kids can learn a lot while playing really fun games. Ive been a member of the BMX world since the beginning. This movie is truly the best. The action, the music, the now classic bikes really take me back. I just wish this was on BLU-RAY. Buy a BMX race bike and get to the track. Every one out there should try and contact HAL NEEDHAM and convince him to get this to DVD!

I loved this movie as a kid. I kept watching it over and over, loving all the tricks, all the stunts and the song "Send me an Angel" is just totally AWESOME 80s style!! It was really the first movie to introduce me to the world of alternative sports. Until then I didnt know there were professional riders, skateboarders, etc. I hope this movie comes out on DVD as it would quickly become part of my collection.

I saw this movie, on opening day, in Tucson, Arizona. I remember it like yesterday. I was skating with my best friends, outside the theatre, and I broke my board, doing a trick. I was heartbroken and the movie cured me but it made me want to skate even more... What a great time to grow up! A fantastic movie and an instant classic for my generation.

Everyone who likes this movie likes it for the skating or has/had a crush on Christian Slater. Its possible to fit in both categories, too, of course.

Gleaming the Cube has a weak plot that fails to engage and the quality of the acting varies widely from actor to actor and from scene to scene. The clunky direction doesnt do much to improve things, although there is some amazing editing work.

Christian Slater was new to being a "star" at the time of filming for Slater fans, this is definitely worth watching to measure his growth as an actor.

For skateboarding fans, theres no point in bothering to follow the plot--just sit back and watch some super hot skating and youll enjoy it. Tony Hawks skating in this movie is legendary for good reason but all the skaters turn in excellent performances.

While I can hardly say I watch it for its strong acting and captivating story, its a great flashback to when skateboarders wherent the popular kids and the goal wasnt to make it to the X-games. Why do so many people hate this guy? He isnt a novelty act. Hes a true rap genius, a visionary. Hes like the Chad Kroger of rap- which is a great compliment, considering Nickleback are one of the best bands of all-time! I wish he wasnt a one-hit wonder, though. I betch ya a lot of people have this CD but wont admit to it. I was a DJ when this was big, and my boss was too cheap to buy it. Well, to be more precise, the cassette single of Ice Ice Baby was outselling the song, so the record company pulled it so people would buy the album (greed in the record companies existed long before digital downloading and MP3 files). I told him to buy the album, he didnt want to, so I did. The album is pretty much a bore, with Vanilla doing what rappers seem to do, tell us how great he is at rappin. But thats it. At least 2 Live Crew and The Geto Boys made me laugh a bit, and Ice-T has some good political stuff, along with N.W.A., but Robby Van Winkle (his real name) really didnt have much. The only time I liked him is when he beat the crap out of an MTV studio during the burning of the video Ice Ice Baby (scaring the hosts of Jon Stewart, Denis Leary, and a cackling Janeane Garofalo, who looked drunk during the taping. I thought it was hilarious, because it scared the tar out of the hosts, but that they were the ones who egged Vanilla on, and when he acted upon their taunting, they flipped out). The Ice Ice Baby song is slightly catchy, but the riff/beat was stolen from Under Pressure by David Bowie & Queen. Vanilla pretty much dried up after this, occasionally appearing at gigs and reality shows. Lets hope MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice hook up and go on tour.

...just how great this record was when it came out and how everybody unanimously loved it, even the surviving members of the Beatles. George Harrison went so far as to say that "if there was ever a music group to recapture all the enthusiasm of those early Beatlemania days, then it is Vanilla Ice."

You put this thing on the stereo, and, so long as its not the instantly recognizable "Ice Ice Baby," this album will get the party "thumpin." Too bad so many are blinded by some stupid hate of Vanilla. What caused this anyway?

Thanks to this album, Vanilla Ice is a common household name for a negative force on hip-hop music. Nowadays almost every white rapper (at least the mainstream ones) is compared to this guy, even though theyre possibly more talented than V-Ice.

This album is just a re-release of the majority of the tracks on his 1989 independent release debut album, Hooked. The album also only has one hit that Vanilla Ice is remembered by, and that is "Ice Ice Baby". Its obvious that it lifted the sample from Queen and David Bowies "Under Pressure" without permission, yet its completely denied. If youve heard that track, youll get an idea of what the rest of this album consists of: awful rapping over sub-par beats, some of these beats being obvious samples. "Play That Funky Music" ring a bell? "Dancing Machine"? V-Ice sampled them on this album and dragged the quality down to the black hole of music.

If you want to listen to this album, theres definitely a couple of copies in your closest bargain bin. That way you can listen to the rise of Caucasian hip pop that spawned Mark Wahlbergs short spanned career as Marky Mark. Hilarious at best, downright terrible and stupid at worst.

Fantasy/Concord Rights An Epic Wrong!

For all those wondering if, as promised, Fantasy/Concord fixed the major mistakes they made with initial pressings of the 2006 "A Charlie Brown Christmas" remaster, the answer is a resounding "YES"!

After much comparing and contrasting of the waveforms from three editions of the album (the original 1988 reissue, the original 2006 remaster, and the updated 2006 remaster) I can, without a doubt, tell you that the two songs in question ("Linus And Lucy" and "Christmas Is Coming") on the updated 2006 remaster match the original 1988 reissue note for note.

Purists may scoff, but if youve been putting off purchasing the 2006 remaster of "A Charlie Brown Christmas," due to what you may have heard about the epic wrongs committed by Fantasy/Concord on the initial pressings of the album, dont wait any longer! Buy it for the nostalgia factor, listen to it because its the edition youve always wanted (in the too cool digipak!), and keep it because of the first rate sound quality. Honestly, this album has never sounded so full and rich!

And even if you lovingly own the 1988 CD reissue (like I do), you may surprise yourself by how often you reach for the 2006 edition instead. There IS room for two "A Charlie Brown Christmas" albums in your life, trust me!

An unfortunate remaster of a classic Christmas album

My wife knows that the Christmas season has not officially begun for me until I start playing this album. Guaraldis unique musical whimsy is so perfectly captured on this recording that I cant imagine Christmas without it. Ive also been a composer, arranger and producer for 15 years. From the perspective as a fan of this music and also as a producer, I think this remaster is inappropriate and unfortunate for many of the reasons already stated. Any time you take an iconic recording thats been around for 40 years and try to do the original recording engineer one better, there better be either a specific problem with the original master youre trying to address or youd better be an absolutely brilliant and careful producer.

The original recording of this soundtrack was, despite some comments to the contrary, excellent. For the technology available (it likely was recorded to 4 tracks), the mix is great. Furthermore, because it IS 40 years old, its got that great "vintage" sound to it that isnt necessarily a bad thing at all. (Not every record should sound like it was recorded today!) There isnt a lot of tape hiss. The dynamics are full and the sound is warm. Whats not to love?

I guess what Im trying to say is that, while colored by the technology of the day, nothing musical was lost in the original mastering of this recording. And I think that original "sound" is part of its enduring charm.

Now take the new remaster. It is way to compressed -- the dynamics of the original performance are lost. Some unnecessary noise reduction has clearly been applied, and while there is now NO tape his whatsoever, some of the fidelity is gone with it, too. Finally, the sound stage (the perceived "spread" of the music over the stereo space) is not only less interesting, but its wildly different from the original master.

There are some albums in my collection that have benefited greatly from a careful remaster. Sometimes, the person who did the job the first time around clearly didnt know exactly what they were doing or didnt have the right equipment, and notes that had never been heard are discovered by a new producer years later. Sadly, there is no such studio magic occurring on this remaster. It just feels like a ploy to get more people to buy this album, or to get them to buy it again. But, there are extra or recut tracks, you say! Well, again, if you have reason to respect the original producer (which I think we do in this case), then I think we can assume that we are hearing the original master as he or she intended us to hear it. Remember that ANY time a band goes into a studio, stuff gets recorded that youll never hear. And what you dont hear is usually agreed upon by the producer and the musicians. So to put stuff back onto the record without being able to talk to the artist (Guaraldi is dead) is pretty gutsy and presumptuous, in my opinion. Rest assured -- theres no real reason to buy a remaster of this album. The original master will not only sound more familiar to you, but its musically superior. Merry Christmas!

This is not a "Honeywell HC-14 Replacement Filter", it is a replacement for a Honeywell HC-14 filter. Not the most straightforward description from the seller. That said, for all I know, its a better item. I need the item, so I guess Ill find out about the quality.

It is good for bookreading on a bus, after dark, though. What can you expect for the low price here? Expect to pay more, at least $20, for a brighter one. Also, the person I bought if from sent me a cheaper version, with thinner metal used. So there is at least a small chance you will not get the flashlight pictured.

This flashlight is very light weight and easy to carry in a purse to have handy at any time. It puts out a reasonable amount of light for such a small tool. We have purchased about ten of them and have stashed them all over the place for quick access. It doesnt seem to be affected by constant abuse in a purse or at the hands of our kids who also have them in their rooms. I would definately recommend this low priced, high quaility tool to my friends.

I orginially purchased the space saver 3, loved it so much I came back to get this bigger one the Classic model with 7 pods because the white one was on sale this week for $89.00! I remember paying almost that much for the space saver 3 model. Im so glad because there is a huge difference in the Space Saver models and getting the classic. The space saver units are noisy (I have a small place). The classic model is very, very quite. And, the space saver 3 only has 3 pods while the classic has 7 pods--grow more stuff at once.

Bright Lights
Yes, it runs for 17 hours on and 7 hours off (no surprise here, thats what it does). I run it during the day, so its off when I sleep (again, my place is small and these lights are bright especially with 2 units running at the same time). So, having them come on when I get up is no big deal.

Electrical Costs
Like most folks I wondered about the electric bill. As these are compact flourescent lights (CFL) they do save more energy than traditional bulbs, but they are running for 17 hours a day. I sat down to figure out what that would really cost. The company recommends changing the bulbs every 6 months. Yes, they do last longer than that but CFL lose their brightness over time so changing them out frequenty will significantly increase growing. I think most folks are changing them at or near the one year mark (perhaps after 2-3 harvest). I just had to calculate wattage on CFL for a kitchen remodel because of the energy requirements in California. So, heres a rough estimate:

The classic unit has 2 bulbs that each put out about 1500 lumens each. This is about the same as 23 watt bulb. So, at 17 hours a day on a 23 watt bulb, 285 kWH per year, $.xx wKh depending on your energy bill charge, and run for 12 months. It should be about $30-40 a year.

Cost Benefit
Then add in the cost of the unit (in my case it was $90) and additional seed kits $15 for the year. You are looking at inital cost for the first year of $135-145. After that if you buy one set of bulbs ($20) and 2 seed kits ($30), with electrical the cost its about $80-90 the second year.

Now, I pay about $4-5 bucks for a small package of organic herbs at the store every week. Thats about $200-260 a year, and Im sure its even more for me during the summer months.

So the benefit of the unit (including electrical) for me indicates the unit pays for itself back in the first year. $135-145 versus $200-260...and continues to pay for itself in subsequent years.

Get Rid of the Critters
Now, as for bugs. Thats easy. The first sign of anything like that...remove the bowl and wash the bugs off the plants (if you have pets thats typically a source of transportation for them). Also, if its near an open window, these small bugs can get through your screen-they are small enough. So, you might want to move it away from window and pets.

Outdoors in my garden I do not use pesticides, but rather I spray down with mixture of dawn soap and water (most bugs do not like the taste) and it does not harm the plants. I do this weekly, takes about 15 mintues--but worth it. I have not had any bugs with this unit but I would try to wash the plants down with a little bit of dawn soap in the sink.

Got this for Christmas last year. It drains electricity like crazy - my bill was almost doubled! In addition, the lights are on in the middle of the night and are nearly blinding. Not worth it for herbs you can easily grow outside in pots.

The AeroGarden "classic" is a nice product Ive had it for over a year. It works as designed and has produced herbs and greens with little effort. For a gardening enthusiast such as myself living in Pittsburgh PA, having off-season "fresh" produce is a welcome change.

One of my only gripes about the product itself is the price of the seeds. I was a little bit surprised to see that in the tomato seed pack, I only received 3 seed "pods", with blank fillers provided to fill the other four holes. I understand that tomatoes need space to grow, but does that justify a price of $25 for 3 tomato plants? Im still a bit bothered by that although the plants are growing nicely.

Overall, I enjoyed my AeroGarden so much that I intended on buying one for both my mother and father this holiday season. However, the pricing on Amazon kept fluctuating at one point it was $129, then it was $89, then back to $129. It changed so much that I couldnt keep track of it from day to day. Finally, I bought it through another online site. This isnt the first time Ive noticed this I have no idea what Amazon is doing with their pricing this season.

My advice -- buy this product, but do your research about where you get it from so that you dont get ripped off. I bought it for $99 elsewhere.

Good idea but somewhat shoddy construction

Ive had the AeroGarden long enough to have grown one full crop and start another. Basically, the product works as advertised. You stick in the seed pods, fill it with water, toss in fertilizer tablets and repeat when the little control panel light prompts you.

The good: Its small and it does grow the plants quickly. We grew the herb garden and once it sprouted, it took off pretty quickly. You do have to trim the plants back to keep them from turning into a total tangle of herb jungle. If I do the herbs again, I will likely not put in all of them. I never use Dill or Mint, so Id just as soon not be trimming them all the time.

Once the plants are ready to trim, they will keep on growing for at least a couple months, providing you with a decent supply of whatever your growing.

The Bad: Its pretty bright. You wont want this sitting in an area where you would care to have a couple of bright lights going nearly all the time. The picture makes it look like a nice glow, but the light spreads out quite a bit. We have it sitting on a low table in the formal dining room and it lights up that room pretty well. Imagine talking one of those clamp on shop lamps, putting a hundred watt bulb in it and pointing it at the ground. The ambient light is enough to read the manual standing ten feet away. And if your eye level is below the lamp shield, its impossible to ignore.

The unit was quiet at first, but developed a buzzing hum after a few months. Ive taken the unit apart and checked for anything that may vibrate and made sure the pump is clean, but it still does it. The buzz is loud enough that it would annoy the heck out of someone in the same room.

The light bulbs are the fluorescent type, which saves on electricity and keeps the heat down, but the sockets seem rather loose. The bulbs are in no danger of falling out, but they frequently go out and I have to jiggle them around to get them to regain contact and light up again.

Final Conclusions: I give it a mostly satisfied. Its a bit shoddy on the construction, but so far there are workarounds for the faults. You will not want this if you cannot put it somewhere isolated. The light and noise would be very annoying in a typical apartment kitchen. The seed kits are a bit overpriced. If they are going to rake you over the coals for the kits, they should drop the price of the unit. This seems like the kind of thing many people may get as a gift and then sell at a garage sale after using it once. You really only want it if know for sure you will use what you grow.

Ive spent a total of $1200 on AeroGardens. I really enjoyed mine so I sent them as Christmas presents to my closest friends this year. I also ordered one of the AeroGarden 3 systems for myself as a Xmas present. I ordered it with the English Cottage flower selection seed pods. It arrived with basil, chives, and thyme seed pods. I contacted AeroGrow at the number on the shipping form. I was on hold for 20 minutes before I finally gave up and left my number for a callback. The phone system said to press 2, leave your callback number and you wont lose your place in the queue. Haaa! 3 hours later and I still hadnt received a call. So I sent an email addressing the problem. This was over 24 hours ago. I still havent received a response. AeroGrow used to be awesome at customer service. Now... not so much. Additionally, the first AeroGarden I ordered from them stopped working at my second planting. The pump is shot. I would tell them this, but I cant get in contact with anyone from the company. Regarding the mistake on the Xmas present I ordered for myself... I can only wonder if the Xmas presents I ordered for my friends were accurate. Not a happy camper....

I have loved the Peanuts gang since I was a little girl and I still do, and the music of Vince Guaraldi encompasses the very essence of Christmas, before corporations and commericalism took over! Shame! Shame! This CD brings people of all ages together and can really transform people into the holiday spirit without the harsh, revamped old Christmas melodies sung today by no namers being thrown in your face when you walk into any retail store. The Peanuts CD lifts the spirits gently while one shops and the melodic masterpieces that Vince Guaraldi brings to each song is a treasure in itself. If there was ever a Christmas CD to spend money on, then this is the one! It is worth every penny spent and a CD that people of all ages love. This CD is also a CD that has been passed down in my family for decades and is played every Christmas morning. A great stocking stuffer too! I cant say enough about this mini masterpiece except that I feel gifted to listen to it every year! How can you not love the CD just for Snoopy alone?! Boasting the first jazz instrumental to sell a million copies, the Paul Desmond-penned "Take Five," Time Out captures the celebrated jazz quartet at the height of both its popularity and its powers. Recorded in 1959, the album combines superb performances by pianist Brubeck, alto saxophonist Desmond, drummer Joe Morrello and bassist Gene Wright. Along with "Take Five," the album features another one of the groups signature compositions, "Blue Rondo a la Turk." Though influenced by the West Coast-cool school, Brubecks greatest interest and contribution to jazz was the use of irregular meters in composition, which he did with great flair. Much of the bands appeal is due to Desmond, whose airy tone and fluid attack often carried the bands already strong performances to another level. Dave Brubeck Quartets "Time Out" is a classic jazz recording and anyone who appreciates jazz needs this gem in their collection.

The year 1959 proved to a big year for jazz having produced many of the genres most important releases like Miles Davis "Kind Of Blue," Charles Mingus "Mingus Ah Um," Bill Evans "Portrait In Jazz," and John Coltranes "Giant Steps." This year also proved that the Dave Brubeck Quartet were force to be reckoned with.

Employing odd time signatures and ethnic timbres not widely used in jazz at the time, "Time Out" proved to be a groundbreaking success. To Columbia Records surprise "Time Out" spawned a hit single "Take Five" and it was ranked #2 on the Billboard charts.

All of the elements that made this group great are in place on "Time Out," but it is my strong opinion that they made plenty of records that were just as good as this one. I would challenge anyone whos interested in this quartet to explore his other work with Paul Desmond. You will quite surprised.

This is a classic album that is without a doubt recommended, not just by me, but the other 171 people who gave it 5-stars.

A Guilty Pleasure

As the title of my review states, I consider this Cd to be kind of a "guilty pleasure." I mean just look at a photo of ol Dave. Miles he aint.

And the time signature experiments and almost mathematical structuring of the music isnt exactly soulful. Were talkin polar opposite of A Love Supreme here.

Yet, I cant help it, I put this one on late at night when Im all alone and I (gasp!) rock me some Dave Brubeck Quartet.

Parts of this album can certainly feel like Jazz Lite, but its also at least melodically pleasing and at times truly original. Even to this day.

Though its been used as bumper music, movie soundtrack, commercial accompaniment, etc., it still sounds just fine as a stand alone document of a time when Rock n Roll was just gonna be a dying fad and Jazz was "hip" and intellectual and not pumped into climate controlled coffee houses.

So there we have it. Ive just "come out" to the world. I like Dave Brubeck. Im such a nerd.

This has been my favorite Dave Brubeck album for a long time. I still have it on vinyl, although it it scratched, I would still listen to it. When I saw it on Amazon, I just had to have it to take with me in the car.

I would give this humidifier a 5 except i find it a bit noisy compared to the old Vicks/Honeywell Humidifier I upgraded from. Dont make the mistake I did of forgetting to put the top of spongebobs head back on. Youll wind up with a puddle of water all around.

Plus: No salt needed to start, no worry about salt residue on your walls, furniture etc over time. Plenty of vapor, different settings for output.

Cons: Nightlight isnt very strong at all-although that doesnt really matter to me, it may to you. Its more of a soft glow, but the light doesnt reach much farther than the appliance so if youre a parent who needs to check in on their child, make sure your floors are clear!

I have the frog one at the office and works great also. I prefer the frog just because the tank is clear.

So cute, and functional too!

I got this humidifier for my office, which is very dry. He (my office mate and I have named him Albert) sits on the side of my desk and steams away quietly (a couple soft gurgling sounds every now and then) and looks pretty darn cute. On the setting I have him on, he can go for several days of being on all day without needing a refill -- the users manual is nice and clear about what setting is appropriate for your particular environment. Lots of co-workers have come by and cooed over him and then said they were going to get one or something similar for themselves.

The only things that I wish were different: 1) youre supposed to put him on a surface a couple feet off the ground, which pretty much meant my desk in my situation, and thats valuable space for my clutter 2) the steam comes out of slits on the eye part, and I wish it came out of his nose like a real dragon! But otherwise Id highly recommend this humidifier.

This cool mist humidifier works perfectly well. I use filtered water, in an attempt to reduce sediment, and I have never had problems. In the Thomas the Tank Engine version, at least, you can turn the top of the engines smokestack to aim the mist Ive pointed mine toward the middle of the room and away from any nearby objects. I have never had trouble with water drops forming on anything I simply keep it a few feet off the ground and aimed into the center of the room.

One of the great little twists to the Thomas the Tank Engine version is that the mist rises from Thomas smokestack. Its a cool mist and very visible, making for a nice effect.

If I must find a negative, it is in the thickness of the plastic. The water tank feels like it might fall apart at any moment. In months of use, I have never had a problem, though. The handle remains intact and stable, the walls remains straight and solid. It feels cheap, but it seems to hold up just fine. I make a point, however, of keeping my child from playing with it. I dont think it would survive "interaction".

Not so durable : We purchased the Leapster for our daughter last Christmas and she likes it (although she says she would rather have a DS). However, last month she was sitting on a step stool (very low to the ground) and the Leapster slipped out of her hands and fell to the tile floor. The leapster has not worked since and I have tried everything. This is a children's toy and should be able to withstand a fall to the floor without permanent damage. This film is of course a remake of Langs 1930 masterpiece "Kalt wie Eis", which portrayed the descent of German racecar driver Udo Weissjunge into the debauched underworld of Weimar Germany and his eventual triumph over the scathing press which denounced him. Cool As Ice remains true to Langs expressionist vision and style, but goes further into what might be defined as a Dadaist outlook, turning art on its head and reveling in the "anti-art". The wild colors and styles, along with the random and fragmented dialogue, mock the post industrial, information producing west and its dependence on order and logic. This certainly does not suggest the film is illogical, because even at its most absurd, the commentary becomes clear when viewed in its totality.
Dmitri Shostakovich composed music for an animated version of Alexander Pushkins tale "The Priest and His Worker Balda", and rather than have the music conform to the film, the film conformed to the music. Director David Kellogg wisely adheres to this idea and allows the eternal Mr. Ice to shape the films direction and properly represent the concept of the humanist serf indentured to his principles. Ice is on a quest for universal morality, and rather than reverting to the comfort which faith and idealism offer to the weaker of the species, he commands his camp followers to "drop the zero and get with the hero". Is he referring to the ancient hero as an exemplar or the more modern, flawed hero? Mr. Ice leaves this open to interpretation, but it is clear he demands more than just casual contemplation, both from his on screen contemporaries and from his audience. The fact that this critically acclaimed work did not win best picture is clear proof of the bankruptcy of the Oscar committee.

Always being a closet vanilla ice fan, I had this movie along time ago and like everyone else I LOVE IT! I have to say the reviews here made me laugh so hard I was crying, it was so great, and made me remeber how crazy stupid and funny this movie is. I know its lame, but its the best kind of lame, not taking itself serious, and since Rob is huge now from Surreal Life and the SL games, he is awesome as a heavy metel singer! ICE ICE BABY, TOO COLD, TOO COLD!! anyways yes this movie has the best lines, drop that zero, all of them, priceless!!! I WOULD PAY $1000 BUCKS FOR THIS MOVIE! Just joking, but still want to own this, also if looks could kill with richard greico was as awesome as this movie, hard to find that one as well. Anyways, COOL AS ICE RULES!

Vanilla Ice has the acting skills of a piece of driftwood.

Oh man, this movie is terrible. Its so terrible that I found myself cracking up the majority of the time. Its so mind-numbingly bad that I actually kinda liked watching it. But I just couldnt bring myself to give this crapfest a four or five star rating, no matter how many times I laughed at it. Its basically Vanilla Ice trying to be a neon-clad James Dean with fantastic pickup lines such as, "Drop that zero and get with a hero." Do I really need to say anything about that one? Didnt think so.

My favorite scene of the movie would probably be the one where he magically jumps his motorcycle over a fence without a ramp. Who needs physics? Not Ice.

So if youre bored (and preferably drunk and/or high), pop this cheesefest in your old VCR.

With a script from the dream team of Akira Kourisawia and Stanley Kubrick, the pressure was all on the shoulders of director David Kellog. Coming through like a bull in a china shop, Kellog delivers a modern answer to Bergmans "Seventh Seal" that not only uppes the ante, but says, "Im all in."

Let us not forget the jacket.

With its leather stiched cries of passion it is reminicent of a classically trained Adler student, it delivers a tour de force in its delivery of lines like "Sex me up!" ""Down by law" "and "Faith is a torment. It is like loving someone who is out there in the darkness but never appears, no matter how loudly you call."

"Cool As Ice" also employs a number from Pulp Fiction, using the book of Leviticus 3:14 to drop wisdom on us with the quote "Drop that zero and get with the hero."

Method to the end, Ice still resides in the Southern California community that this harrowing documentary was shot in, battling injustice and intolerance with his mighty yellow motorcycle.

Reprising R. Lee Ermeys role from "Full Metal Jacket" this non-Kubrick directed sequel picks up 20 years after the original with Ermeys character now played by Vanilla Ice and living in South Central L.A. Having been kicked out of the army for literally skull- a cadet, (which we are shown in ghastly up-close detail in a sepia-tinged flashback)Ice is a private investigator who starts noticing weird signs appearing in shops in the neighborhood. After a trip to the elementary school library next to his office to look the writing up, he realizes that, yes, his old nemeses the Viet Cong are back and after his hood. Using his neon-yellow, talking motorcycle from the future (voiced by the sonorous and gentle Art Garfunkle) Ice eventually uncovers that the VC are infecting LAs gang-ridden slums with an ultra-powerful form of crack known as Ice-9. Determined to end the VCs reign of terror and win back Americas honor after the left-wing inflicted defeat of Viet Nam, Ice and Garfunklebike beat down legions of VC thugs until finally reaching the gangs resurrected zombie leader, Ho Chi Minh (look for a young Jet Li in the role!), and defeating him in an epic battle royale with a little help from WWF fave Rowdy Roddy Piper. The movie ends with Ice and Garfunklebike riding into the sunset discussing name changes since his name is, like, now associated with a deadly form of crack. Though mustering little box-office support upon its release, "Cool as Ice" has since been consistently ranked highly on the AFLs list of 100 Greatest American Films.

FUN FACT: On his death bed Stanley Kubrick expressed regret that he had allowed this gem to slip through his fingers, suggesting that if he had helmed it as originally planned that it would have been ranked above, instead of below "Citizen Kane."
